SEO Metriks

Tutorials & documentation

How to use every tool in SEO Metriks, grouped the same way they're organized in the app.

Core SEO

Site Audit

Scans every product, page, and collection in your store for missing meta tags, thin content, broken links, and oversized images, and rolls it all up into a live SEO Health Score.

  1. Open Site Audit from the dashboard — it scans your store automatically, no setup needed.
  2. Review your score and the list of issues, ranked critical to informational.
  3. Click "Fix" on any issue to jump straight to the relevant editor (Meta Tags, Alt Text, or the specific page).
  4. Re-run the audit any time — your score updates live from your actual current catalog, not a cached snapshot.

Meta Tags

Edit the title and description every product, page, and collection shows in Google search results — with AI generation available for anything missing.

  1. Open the Meta Tags tab and filter to "Missing" to see what needs attention first.
  2. Click a product to edit its title/description manually, or hit the AI button to generate a first draft.
  3. Review the AI draft — nothing is applied until you save it.
  4. Use "AI Fill Missing" to generate and save titles/descriptions for every item missing one in a single batch.

Image Alt Text

Generates descriptive alt text for your product images using AI that actually looks at the image — plus flags source images that are far larger than anything on your storefront actually displays.

  1. Open the Alt Text tab — it shows every product image and whether it has alt text.
  2. Click the AI button on any image to generate alt text based on what's actually in the photo.
  3. Check the "Oversized" filter to see images well beyond any real display size on your theme — a real page-weight cost even though Shopify's CDN resizes them on delivery.
  4. Use "AI Fill Missing" to batch-generate alt text for every image that doesn't have one.

Social Preview

Shows exactly how a product or collection will look when shared as a link on Facebook and Twitter/X, before you post it.

  1. Open the Social Preview tab and pick a product or collection.
  2. Check the live Facebook and Twitter card previews against the real image, title, and description that will show.
  3. If something's missing (no image, no description), it's flagged with a direct link to fix it in Meta Tags.

Content

Blog Generator

Writes a full SEO-oriented blog post from a topic you give it, with automatic internal links to your own products and pages.

  1. Open Content → Blog Posts and enter a topic or target keyword.
  2. Generate a draft — review the title, body, and suggested internal links.
  3. Edit anything you want before publishing.
  4. Publish when ready — the topic you generated from is automatically tracked as that post's Focus Keyword, so you can check its on-page SEO afterward without a second setup step.

FAQ Generator

Generates buyer FAQs for a product with AI, rendered live on your product page as a theme block that matches your store's design — not pasted into the product description.

  1. Open Content → FAQs, and one-time only, click "Add to theme" to add the FAQ block to your product page in the Theme Editor.
  2. Select a product and generate a set of FAQs.
  3. Edit any question or answer before saving.
  4. Save — the FAQs appear live on that product's page automatically, styled to match your theme.

Focus Keywords

Assign a target keyword to any product, page, collection, or blog post, and run a full on-page checklist — title, description, heading, body content, image alt text, filenames, URL slug, and more — against that keyword.

  1. Open Content → Focus Keywords and pick a page.
  2. Set the keyword you want that page to rank for.
  3. Review the checklist — each check is either pass, warning, or fail, with a plain-language explanation and a direct fix link.
  4. "Scan this page" for a deeper check that reads your page's actual live HTML (heading structure, subheadings, link counts) — this one is plan-limited since it's a paid check, everything else runs free.

Technical SEO

Page Speed

Runs your storefront through Google's own PageSpeed Insights and shows your real mobile and desktop scores.

  1. Open Technical SEO → Page Speed and click "Run Speed Test."
  2. Review your mobile and desktop scores — these are Google's real, live scores, not an estimate.
  3. Re-test periodically, especially after a theme change — scores go stale.

Structured Data

Injects JSON-LD schema markup (Product, Organization, BreadcrumbList, and more) into your storefront so Google can understand and richly display your pages in search results.

  1. Open Technical SEO → Structured Data.
  2. Toggle on the schema types relevant to your store (Product, Article, Breadcrumb, Organization).
  3. Fill in your organization details if you enable Organization/LocalBusiness schema.
  4. Save — the script installs automatically, no theme code editing required.

Sitemap, Robots & Redirects

Covers the technical foundation: your sitemap, robots.txt behavior, and a broken-link/redirect manager for 301s.

  1. Open Technical SEO to see your sitemap status and crawl settings.
  2. Use the Redirects tab to scan for broken links on your store.
  3. Add a 301 redirect for any broken link straight from the scan results.

Growth Tools

Rank Tracking

Tracks your store's real Google ranking position for keywords you choose, automatically, once a day.

  1. Open Growth Tools → Rank Tracking and add a keyword you want to track.
  2. The app checks your position automatically every day — no need to click anything.
  3. Watch the trend line build over time to see whether your SEO work is actually moving the needle.

Keyword Research

Finds keyword opportunities with real search volume and ranking difficulty, either from a seed term you type or auto-suggested from what you actually sell.

  1. Open Growth Tools → Keyword Research.
  2. Run "Scan my store" for automatic suggestions based on your catalog, or type a seed keyword yourself.
  3. Review results sorted by opportunity — real search volume and competition, not a guess.
  4. Send any keyword straight to Rank Tracking to start monitoring it.

Competitor Spy

Add a competitor's domain and see their ranked keywords, top pages, and the keyword gaps where they outrank you.

  1. Open Growth Tools → Competitor Spy and add a competitor's domain.
  2. Click "Scan" to pull their current keyword rankings, top pages, and backlink summary.
  3. Check the keyword gap view for terms they rank for that you don't.
  4. Re-scans are metered monthly per your plan — re-scan when you actually want a fresh check, not on a fixed schedule.

Google Shopping Visibility

Runs real Google Shopping searches for keywords relevant to what you sell, and checks whether your store actually shows up.

  1. Open Growth Tools → Shopping and add a keyword to check.
  2. Review whether you're showing up, your position, and how your price compares to the market.
  3. If you're not showing up at all, that's almost always a Google Merchant Center / product feed issue, not something an SEO fix changes — the app flags this distinction directly.

Analytics

Connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 to see your real impressions, clicks, and organic traffic — plus a breakdown of real visits arriving from AI platforms.

  1. Open Growth Tools → Analytics and click "Connect Google Account."
  2. Authorize access to your Search Console property and/or GA4 property.
  3. Review real search performance and traffic trends, pulled live, not modeled.
  4. Check "Visitors from AI assistants" to see which of your pages have already received real clicks from an AI citation.

Account

Plans & Billing

Manage your subscription — Free, Starter, Growth, or Pro.

  1. Open Account → Billing to see the full feature comparison across every plan.
  2. Upgrade or downgrade at any time — changes take effect through Shopify's own billing flow.

Settings

Site verification codes, crawl settings, default title suffix, image filename templates, and the weekly summary email.

  1. Open Account → Settings.
  2. Site Verification: paste your Google/Bing verification codes here, or use Search Console's OAuth connection instead (Analytics tab) — you usually only need one.
  3. Image Filenames: customize the template used when renaming non-descriptive product images (e.g. "IMG_4821.jpg"), with variables like product name, type, vendor, and SKU.
  4. Weekly Summary Email: turn on a Monday digest of your SEO score and open issues, sent to whichever address you choose.
